So what’s the deal with friendship? Do we need 10-20-30-40 friends, or are they merely acquaintances?
They say – A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out. – Walter Winchell

Back to – what it means to be a true blue FRIEND.
Karen Carbo in PSYCHOLOGY TODAY speaks to many of the pertinent issues with friendship: “The conventional wisdom is that we choose friends because of who they are. But it turns out, that we love them because of the way they support who we are.
What gives meaning to your life?
Friendship figures at the top of the list.
Karen goes on to say – “The dynamics of friendship have remained mysterious and unquantifiable. Like romantic love, friendships were thought just to happen. Self-disclosure characterizes the moment when a pair leaves the realm of buddyhood for the rarefied zone of true friendship. “Can I talk to you for a minute?” – May well be the very words you say to someone who is about to become a friend. Reciprocity is key. Those who know what to say in response to another person’s self-disclosure are more likely to develop satisfying friendships. Our friends are there for us through thick and thin, but rarely cross the line: A friend with too many opinions about our wardrobe, our partner, or our taste in movies and art may not be a friend for long. We have with our best friends on a “beyond-the-call-of-duty” expectation. If we suffer an emergency—real or imagined—and need to talk, we expect our best friend to drop everything and race to our side.”

This presidential ELECTION has me thinking.
Wouldn’t it be terrific to know, which way things will work out?
Do we want to know about elections before they end or for that matter – our whole future ahead of time?
Sure, it’s appealing for many reasons and yet, is it?
Have you ever wished to know the future? Most of us have at one time or the other, I presume.
But before we consider the pros and cons – let’s take a look here: 13 CNN

What happened to that friendship?
Are you letting go?
Could you repair it?
What’s your criteria for a solid friendship and when, or should, one ever end?
There are many challenges in our lives, and nothing more rewarding than a friend to swap stories. It’s funny, but they come in all sizes, shapes and forms. Personalities completely across the board walk right into our little lives. In college, friends came and went almost as fast as a new semester. Sure, there were a select few that never escaped, but through the years, some drifted away.
It’s something of a wonder to me when people have lived in the same place all their lives. They have the rare opportunity to keep in touch with dear old friends. One of my girlfriends has a dinner every three months or so with her “kindergarten chums!” Can you imagine, having watched each other’s lives for a period that long? To see life through grammar, middle, high school and on into adulthood. What a phenomenal deal that would be!

We have all sorts of friends in our life. One’s we would travel with and seldom tire. Others that are higher energy than us but what a kick they are in short bursts. They’re the friends we rarely see but they intrigue us, and it pleases us to keep in touch with them.

It’s interesting what attracts us to certain people. Is it shared interests, proximity, vested years, qualities and or simply circumstances? Can’t we point to it, not necessarily! Take 20 of your closest friends and put them side by side. Would they have similar values, interests, hobbies, or life experiences? Of course not. These people have slipped into our lives, at various times, and for completely incongruent reasons.

Now, if you took the same 20 friends and narrowed the field down to your top ten. Would that make a significant difference? Could you decipher more commonalities? I doubt it.

Have you rewritten your profile many times, or is it something you did and haven’t looked at since?
What should your dating PROFILE say?
After seven years of dating online myself, my thoughts on this subject are from experience and a special place in my heart for those in the dating game.
So – are you over 40 and looking to find your sweetheart?
It’s tough knowing what to say in a few sentences to capsulize your life, your hopes, and your priorities. That’s part of writing an online dating profile.
There’s an expression –
“YOU CAN’T UNDERSTAND ANOTHER PERSON’S EXPERIENCE UNTIL YOU’VE WALKED A MILE IN THEIR SHOES.”
So how do you give a written preview of YOU?
First, it requires that you know yourself. What specifically are your preferences in a mate?
OK, enough about that let’s get started…You’ve got homework.

To-do List:
1) Make a list of 20-30 qualities in a future partner that you’d like to see. Post it up in your closet or by a bathroom mirror.
2) Make a list of 20-30 aspects of your personality and life experiences that YOU bring to someone’s life. Post this one right next to it. Reread it whenever you get down. I mean it!
3) Ask yourself, what are the qualities I find to be the most offensive on a first date?
4) Ask two of your dearest friends to look at your lists. Then ask them to RANK what they feel are your top five qualities.
Listen to what they say. They see you in a different light, through their eyes.
Back to – how you go about expressing these qualities in your profile?

It’s imperative we laugh at the changes in life.
Wouldn’t you agree?
With life’s disappointments, laughter gives us a needed reprieve.
So how do we know when we’ve changed?
Either we’re older or who knows what the changes are, things are just different.

But, you know things have changed –

when – it feels amazing to UNHOOK that BRA
when – men CHECK-OUT your daughters
when – LATE is 11 or 12
when – the CONVERSATION centers on MEDICAL issues
when – your kids ask YOU questions AGAIN
when – SOMA fits better than VICTORIA SECRETS
when – your HEELS hurt
when – you DON’T DARE ask what they CAN’T EAT
when – Zombies, Bachelors, Narcs and Techi’s DOMINATE the airways

How do we know what’s true on the internet, especially with political commentary? Truth on the internet is important to us.
People forward explosive emails. It would be nice if they were accurate, better yet – great, if we didn’t have to fact-check.
Couldn’t GOOGLE and MICROSOFT come up with an instant fact-checking validation method? When we search, wouldn’t it be better if only the higher ranking info was factual and at the top of the pile?
I heard that SNOPES was a good fact checking site. Then I noticed this: Snopes CEO Gets Arrested on Charges of Corruption and Fraud. This article was all one big LIE!
Isn’t this a bit of irony for you. I was researching how to check for truthfulness on the internet. The most reliable source I come across has an article right up there in rankings that is baseless?
Can you imagine if this happened to you?
